Child custody battle brewing between Jenelle Evans and her ex

Jenelle Evans is a familiar name in many California households, especially those that include fans of the reality TV show "Teen Mom." Evans and her fellow cast members are gearing up for their second season, which in her case, may be clouded by child custody problems she is currently facing regarding her ex boyfriend and her son. The child was reportedly staying with his father for a weekend visit when problems arose.

It is understandable that a parent would be concerned if he or she were to witness an injury on a child. That's what Nathan Griffith, the father of Evans's son, says happened during one of his visits with his child. He also reportedly notified police that he had found bruises on his son.

Evans said it would have been much less disruptive for her child if his father had simply called or texted to ask about the situation rather than jump to conclusions and make false accusations against her and her current husband. Her husband allegedly said he believes the child may have been injured while playing at school. Child Protective Services in numerous counties were reportedly contacted by Griffith to report the situation.

Evans said she was scheduled to retrieve her son from his weekend visit but his father and grandmother refused to transfer custody. A key factor in a similar situations would be whether or not there is an existing court order defining the terms of a custody agreement. Any parent who disobeys a court order may be held in contempt.

California parents may wonder what they should do if they suspect a child is being abused. Child custody laws vary by state, so it is always a good idea to speak with an experienced family law attorney rather than trying to take matters into one's own hands. An attorney knows what steps to take to bring such matters to the court's immediate attention.
